The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, flagged off the construction of 10.5 kilometres of access roads within the Karsana District of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), assuring residents of timely completion of the projects.

The roads, identified as N11, N16, N40 and SILS 03, are designed to service the Renewed Hope Housing Estate and adjoining developments in the district.

The project, awarded to Messrs Lubrik Construction Company Nig Ltd, is expected to be completed within 18 months as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Abuja, Wike said the provision of road infrastructure remains a critical priority of the FCT Administration, noting that no city can achieve meaningful development without a strong network of roads.

“Today, the 26th of September 2025, we are here again to flag off one of the very critical aspects of the Renewed Hope Agenda, and that is the provision of infrastructure,” the Minister said.

Wike recalled that President Tinubu had, during the launch of the Renewed Hope Agenda Estate of about 3,000 housing units in Karsana last year, directed that the FCT provide supporting infrastructure to link up the estate and others within the district.

He commended the contractor for mobilising to site even before formal mobilisation funds were released, describing the gesture as a vote of confidence in the FCT Administration.

“Let me commend the contractor Lubricks who have mobilized to site before they were mobilized. That shows confidence in us, we won’t take it for granted,” he said.

The Minister stressed that road networks remain the foundation for attracting other forms of development, including schools, hospitals and private investments.

“Of all these houses you are seeing here, without any network of roads, it makes no sense. If you want to bring in a hospital here without roads, it makes no sense. If you want to build schools here without roads, it makes no sense,” he added.

Wike assured residents that funds would be provided to ensure work progresses steadily, with the aim of inaugurating the roads during President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

“We will do everything within our own powers to see that funds are made available so that during the third year of anniversary of Mr. President, we would have achieved the inauguration of this road network,” he said.

He further commended the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and his team for their supervision of road projects across the FCT, urging the Karsana community to support the contractors and ensure peace at project sites.

Describing the initiative as a promise fulfilled under the Renewed Hope Agenda, Wike said: “This is a promise made by the Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of His Excellency, The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It’s a promise made and it’s a promise kept.”

In a vote of thanks, the Acting Head of Service FCT, Nancy Nathan, said it is a strategic intervention that will ease traffic congestion by providing a vital link between Karsana District and other parts of the city, thereby boosting commercial and residential development; and ultimately contribute to the growth of Abuja as a modern city.

She reiterated that the FCT Administration remains resolute in delivering projects that touch lives, promote economic growth, and leave enduring legacies for generations to come.
